Ohio State or Wisconsin for business school: which is better for undergraduate business?

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale and city access versus a more consistently acclaimed business-school brand. Ohio State gives you the reach of a huge alumni network and strong access to internships through Columbus, while Wisconsin’s Wisconsin School of Business is often viewed as having the slightly stronger overall undergraduate business reputation and a very loyal employer base, especially in the Midwest.

Both are respected public universities, and neither is a weak option for business. Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business is well known, especially for accounting, finance, operations, and the advantages that come from being in a large state capital with many corporate and government-connected opportunities.

For internships and networking, Ohio State has a real practical advantage because Columbus is a large and growing business market. That can make during-the-semester internships, corporate events, and alumni connections easier to access. Wisconsin also places students well, but Madison is more of a classic college town, so some students rely a bit more on summer internships and organized recruiting pipelines rather than sheer local volume.

At the same time, Ohio State’s size can work in your favor because Fisher’s alumni network is enormous and widespread, which matters a lot once you start looking for internships and first jobs.

If the question is which school usually has the stronger reputation for undergraduate business overall, I’d give Wisconsin the nod. If you care just as much about internship access during the school year and the benefits of a very large alumni base in a major city, Ohio State becomes extremely compelling. For pure undergrad business reputation, Wisconsin comes out a bit ahead.
