Boston College or Fordham for internships in New York?

I’m trying to decide between Boston College and Fordham, and a big factor for me is internship access in New York. I know Fordham is in New York and Boston College is in Boston, but I’m mainly wondering which school tends to be better for getting internship opportunities in New York and building connections there.

Fordham is usually the stronger choice if New York internships are a major priority. Its Lincoln Center campus is in Manhattan, its Rose Hill campus is in the Bronx, and students can intern during the semester much more easily because they are already in the city. That proximity matters a lot for fields like finance, media, nonprofits, communications, and business, where part-time in-semester internships often lead to stronger local networks.

Boston College is a well-regarded school with a strong alumni network, and BC students absolutely do get internships and jobs in New York. But most of that access comes through alumni outreach, school breaks, summer internships, and post-grad recruiting rather than the simple day-to-day convenience of being based in NYC. If your goal is to build relationships in New York over four years, Fordham gives you more natural repetition and exposure.

Fordham also has a particularly visible footprint in New York employers because of location alone. Students can attend networking events, employer panels, and coffee chats without needing to travel from another city, which makes it easier to stay consistent. That can be especially useful if you want to test different industries early.

Boston College may still be the better overall pick if you prefer its academics, campus culture, or national brand in your intended field. But on the specific question of getting internship opportunities in New York while in college and building connections there, Fordham generally has the advantage.
