Does the University of Chicago provide visa support for international students?

I’m an international high school student thinking about applying to UChicago, and I’m trying to understand how much help the school gives with the visa process if I get admitted.

I know the basic visa steps are handled through the government, but I want to know whether the university supports students with the paperwork and I-20 process.

Yes. The University of Chicago does provide visa support for international students, including issuing the I-20 for F-1 students once you are admitted and submit the required financial documentation. UChicago’s Office of International Affairs guides students through the immigration document process, visa steps, and pre-arrival requirements. They also support students after enrollment with things like maintaining status, travel signatures, CPT, and OPT advising.

After that, UChicago gives instructions for paying the SEVIS fee, completing the DS-160, and scheduling the visa interview at a U.S. consulate or embassy. The actual visa decision is made by the U.S. government, but the school handles the university side of the paperwork and provides guidance on what you need.

One thing to keep in mind is that visa document issuance depends on showing sufficient financial support and submitting materials by the deadlines UChicago sets for incoming international students. UChicago is well used to enrolling international students, so this is a standard part of their admissions and onboarding process.
