Do community college classes taken during senior year of high school count as college coursework on applications?
I’m a high school senior and I’m thinking about taking a couple classes at my local community college while finishing my regular classes.
I’m confused about how colleges view that when I apply. I want to know whether those classes are considered college coursework on applications, or if they’re treated more like part of high school.

Yes. If you take classes through an actual community college and earn college credit, they are generally considered college coursework on applications, even if you took them during high school. On most applications, this is usually reported as dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, or coursework taken at a college while in high school. You typically list both your high school and the community college, and many colleges will want an official transcript from the community college.
They are usually not viewed the same way as AP or honors classes because they come from a real college transcript. That matters for reporting courses, grades, and sometimes for transfer credit review later. On the application itself, though, colleges generally still understand that you took them as a high school student, not as a full-time college student after graduation.
One thing to watch is how each application phrases the question. If it asks whether you have taken college courses, the answer is usually yes.
When you apply, report the classes exactly as they appear, include the college name, and send the transcript if requested.
