What kinds of questions are usually asked in an Emory alumni interview?
I’m a high school senior and I might have an Emory alumni interview soon. I’ve done regular job and club interviews before, but I’m not sure how college alumni interviews usually feel or what topics they tend to focus on.
I’m mainly trying to understand the types of questions Emory interviewers commonly ask so I can prepare in a normal way without sounding scripted.

Emory alumni interviews are usually conversational, not high-pressure, and the questions tend to focus on fit, curiosity, and how you think. You should expect standard topics like why Emory, what you’re involved in, what matters to you academically, and what you hope to contribute on campus.
Common questions often include tell me about yourself, why are you interested in Emory, why your intended major, and what activities have been most meaningful to you. You may also get asked about a challenge you’ve faced, a community you belong to, a leadership experience, or something you’re proud of outside the classroom.
Because it’s Emory, be ready for follow-ups that connect to the university specifically. That could mean why Atlanta appeals to you, what draws you to Emory College versus Oxford College if applicable, or what academic or service opportunities match your interests. If you mention a program, make sure you can explain why it genuinely fits you rather than just naming it.
Interviewers also often leave time for your questions, and that part matters. Ask about the interviewer’s Emory experience, campus culture, student initiative, or how students use Atlanta academically and professionally.
