How good is Emory's pre-med advising for students who want to apply to medical school?

I'm a high school junior looking at Emory because it seems strong for pre-med, but I'm trying to figure out how much the advising actually helps once you're there.

I want to understand whether pre-med advising at Emory is organized and useful for things like planning classes, finding clinical opportunities, and staying on track for med school.

Emory’s pre-med advising is generally considered strong, especially because the university has a large pre-health infrastructure and direct access to major medical settings like Emory Healthcare, the CDC, and nearby Atlanta hospitals. Students can get help with course planning, committee letter preparation, timelines for the MCAT and applications, and guidance on building clinical, research, and service experience.

Emory is also known for offering a committee letter process, which can be helpful because many med schools recognize it as a structured evaluation of an applicant.

For clinical opportunities, Emory’s location is a real advantage. The university’s connection to Emory Hospital, Emory Clinic, Grady, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and public health institutions in Atlanta gives students unusually strong access to shadowing, volunteering, research, and health-related service. That matters because good advising is most useful when there are actual opportunities nearby, and Emory has plenty.

The main catch is that Emory has a lot of pre-med students, so you still need to be proactive.
