How does the DirectConnect to UCF pathway work for Central Florida students?

I’m a high school junior in Central Florida and I keep hearing that some students start at a local state college and then transfer to UCF through DirectConnect. I’m trying to understand what this pathway actually guarantees and how it works in practice.

I’m interested in UCF, but I’m not sure if starting at a state college first changes what majors or options you have later.

DirectConnect to UCF is a transfer pathway for students who earn an associate degree at one of UCF’s partner colleges and then move on to UCF. For Central Florida students, the main partner schools include Valencia College and Seminole State College, along with a few others in the region.

In practice, the core benefit is guaranteed admission to UCF after you complete the required associate degree and meet the program conditions. It does not mean guaranteed admission to every major, campus, or limited-access program.

The usual path is: graduate high school, enroll at a partner state college, complete your AA degree, finish the prerequisite courses for your intended UCF major, and then transfer through DirectConnect. Many students work with advisors at both schools early so they do not take classes that will not fit their UCF plan.

One nice part is that students in DirectConnect often get advising support, transfer planning help, and a clearer transition into UCF.
