Vanderbilt tends to feel more visibly social and high-energy on campus, while Washington University in St. Louis offers a friendlier but somewhat lower-key, more self-directed social scene. Vanderbilt’s compact campus, strong school-spirit culture, active Greek-life presence, and location in Nashville create frequent built-in reasons for students to go out together. WashU has plenty of parties, student organizations, traditions, and Greek life, but its social life is less likely to define the campus’s overall identity.
