How do I fill out the Honors section on the Common App?
I’m a high school junior working on my college applications and I’m confused about what actually belongs in the Honors section. I have a mix of school awards, honor roll, and a couple competition recognitions, and I’m not sure how to list them clearly or which ones count as honors instead of activities.

The Honors section is for academic distinctions, so think awards, prizes, and formal recognition rather than things you regularly do. Good fits include honor roll, National Merit recognition, AP Scholar, subject awards, essay or STEM competition awards, and school-based academic awards.
Activities are different because they describe ongoing involvement. For example, being on debate team, math team, or student council is an activity. But placing at a debate tournament or winning a math competition award can go in Honors.
For each entry, be specific and concise. Include what the honor is, the level of recognition, and when you received it.
