At Notre Dame, football weekends, residence-hall culture, the Victory March, student sections, and longstanding Catholic and campus traditions create a shared rhythm that reaches well beyond dedicated sports fans. Vanderbilt has enthusiastic pockets of participation, particularly around SEC events, basketball at Memorial Gymnasium, and major campus programs, but students’ attention is more dispersed among academics, Nashville, Greek life, and smaller social communities.

Notre Dame is especially distinctive because many traditions are repeated and widely recognized across class years. The student body’s connection to football is unusually consistent, and residence halls function as important social and community centers, reinforcing participation in events, service, and dorm-based traditions.
