Cornell vs. Northwestern: Which Has a More Social Campus?

Northwestern is likely to feel more socially accessible for a student who wants frequent, low-effort ways to meet people and make weekend plans. Its compact lakeside campus keeps students physically close, and Evanston offers restaurants, coffee shops, concerts, and other off-campus options within walking distance. Chicago is also readily available by public transit, which expands the range of weekend activities without requiring a car.

Cornell has a very active student community, including extensive clubs, Greek life, major campus traditions, and a larger undergraduate population. But its Ithaca location is more isolated and its campus is geographically spread out, so social life can be more organized around residence halls, student organizations, Greek chapters, and planned events rather than spontaneous trips off campus.
