Its New Brunswick location puts students within reach of New York City by train, and its large New Jersey/New York alumni network creates practical advantages for semester internships, informational interviews, and in-person recruiting events. Rutgers is especially well positioned for students pursuing fields with substantial NYC-area hiring, such as finance, accounting, marketing, media, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and many corporate roles.

Rutgers can make it easier to build a New York-facing resume while still enrolled. A student can pursue internships during the academic year rather than relying only on summers, attend NYC networking events without major travel costs, and maintain relationships with employers in both New Jersey and the city. For a New York resident who expects to stay in the region, that proximity is a meaningful career advantage.

UT Austin has strong national recognition and can absolutely lead to New York jobs, particularly through well-developed recruiting in business, technology, consulting, engineering, and finance.
