Does Fordham University’s waitlist acceptance rate matter for deciding whether to stay on the waitlist?

I was waitlisted at Fordham and I’m trying to figure out how much weight I should give to the school’s waitlist acceptance rate when deciding whether to stay on it.

I know waitlist movement can be unpredictable, so I’m mostly wondering whether that number is actually useful or if it doesn’t tell you much about your own chances.

Fordham’s waitlist acceptance rate is worth looking at, but only as a very rough signal. It can tell you whether the school sometimes takes students from the waitlist or almost never does, but it does not tell you much about your individual odds in a given year.

Waitlist movement depends on things like how many admitted students enroll, which campus or program needs spots filled, and what kind of students Fordham still needs in the class. A published rate can swing a lot from year to year, so it is not reliable enough to make the decision by itself.

If you stay on, submit the waitlist reply promptly and follow any instructions Fordham gives. If they allow additional updates, a short letter of continued interest can help, especially if you can clearly say Fordham remains a top choice and share meaningful new grades, awards, or activities.

It is not a strong predictor of your personal chances, and your decision should come down more to your real interest in Fordham and whether you would be happy enrolling there if a spot opens.
