A Vanderbilt student targeting New York should be intentional from the first year: join relevant career organizations, connect with New York alumni, and prioritize New York summer internships.

For a student whose central goal is building a New York-based career and who wants frequent, practical access to the city’s employers throughout college, Fordham is the more direct route. Vanderbilt is the stronger choice when you want New York to remain a major option but also value wider national flexibility and are prepared to pursue New York opportunities more proactively.
