Which college has a more fun student life: University of Maryland or USC?

USC is more likely to feel fun day to day for a student who wants a socially active campus connected to a major city. Its Los Angeles location puts concerts, restaurants, museums, professional sports, beaches, and many distinct neighborhoods within reach. USC also has a visible school-spirit culture around football, tailgates, Greek life, performances, and student organizations.

USC’s main advantage is the variety of off-campus options. The campus is near Exposition Park and downtown Los Angeles, with public transit access to other parts of the city. That creates a more spontaneous, urban social rhythm, although going out can require more planning, money, and awareness than at a self-contained college-town campus.

Maryland has the more traditional Big Ten college experience. College Park offers packed basketball and football game days, bars and restaurants near campus, large student organizations, and an easier-to-navigate social scene because so many undergraduates live, study, and spend free time in the same area. Washington, D.C. is accessible by Metro, but it is less embedded in everyday student life than Los Angeles is for many USC students.
