Is UT Austin or Fordham better for getting internships in New York City?

For internships with New York City employers during college, Fordham offers the more direct and practical advantage. Its Bronx and Lincoln Center campuses place students in the city, making it easier to interview in person, work part-time during the academic year, attend employer events, and build relationships before senior year.

The Lincoln Center campus is particularly convenient for students pursuing media, entertainment, communications, arts, finance, or corporate roles in Manhattan. Rose Hill students also have access to the same city, though commuting takes more planning. At Fordham, a student can realistically combine classes with a semester-long internship, and repeated local experience can lead to stronger references and later job opportunities.

UT Austin can still lead to New York internships, particularly for a student who is highly proactive or is in a program with national recruiting reach, such as business, computer science, engineering, or certain finance tracks. UT has a large, accomplished alumni network and strong employer recognition, but its most immediate recruiting and alumni advantages are concentrated in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and other Texas markets. Pursuing NYC internships from Austin often means relying more on virtual networking, planned travel for interviews, and summer-only opportunities.

For a student whose central goal is to establish a career in New York right after graduation, Fordham makes the path more convenient and immersive. UT Austin may still be the right choice if its particular major, academic resources, cost, or campus experience is substantially more compelling.
