Is Princeton need-blind for domestic and international applicants?

I’m trying to understand whether applying for financial aid can affect admission at Princeton.

I’ve seen people say Princeton is need-blind, but I’m not sure if that applies to both U.S. and international students or only domestic applicants. I’m a junior starting to build my college list, so I want to know how this works in practice.

Yes. Princeton is need-blind for both U.S. and international applicants, so applying for financial aid does not affect the admissions decision for either group.

Princeton’s aid is need-based, not merit-based. So there are no academic or talent scholarships in the usual sense. Instead, your family’s financial situation is used to determine the aid package.

If Princeton is on your list and you would need financial aid, you should not avoid applying for aid out of concern that it will hurt your chances there. Just make sure you submit all required financial aid forms on time.
