How many recommendation letters does Harvard require for freshman applicants?
I’m a high school junior trying to plan ahead for my application materials, and I’m a little confused about Harvard’s recommendation letter requirement.
I want to make sure I ask the right teachers early and understand how many letters are actually required for a first-year application.

For first-year applicants, Harvard requires 2 teacher recommendations.
Harvard also requires a school counselor recommendation and a school report. So in practice, your application should include 2 teacher letters plus 1 counselor letter.
Harvard allows additional recommendations, but they are optional.
