For an applicant admitted directly to UW Informatics, UW is the more straightforward choice for an informatics-focused education and career path. UC San Diego becomes the more attractive option when its specific major pathway, campus environment, California residency cost, or interest in cognitive science and technical depth matters more than having Informatics printed on the diploma.
