UCSD’s connections are strongest in San Diego, greater Southern California, and technical industries with a significant research presence.

For internships, do not treat alumni reach as the only factor. At UW, the Seattle location can make in-term internships and employer events easier to pursue. At UCSD, access to nearby research institutes, biotech firms, and health-related organizations can be equally powerful for students in relevant majors. The more helpful network will ultimately be the one aligned with the industry and region where you expect to begin your career.
