Which is better for undergraduate psychology research, UVA or UConn?

UVA has a modest edge for an undergraduate who wants psychology research, particularly if your interests overlap with clinical, developmental, social, cognitive, or neuroscience work connected to a major academic medical center. UVA’s proximity to its School of Medicine and health-system research broadens possibilities in areas such as clinical psychology, behavioral neuroscience, and health-related research.

The most meaningful advantage is the range of faculty-led work available across psychology and adjacent fields. A student interested in topics like child development, emotion, decision-making, perception, mental health, or brain science can look beyond the department to neuroscience, education, public health, and medical-school-affiliated investigators. That interdisciplinary access can make it easier to develop a focused research direction over several semesters.

UConn is still a strong research university for psychology.
