NYU can be worth its higher price when its location and programs directly match your goals. It has meaningful advantages for finance, media, entertainment, arts, fashion, real estate, and certain globally oriented business paths because students can intern in New York City during the academic year. Its large urban network can be especially valuable when relationship-building in a specific industry is central to getting started.

The deciding calculation is net price, not sticker price. If NYU’s grants make its total four-year cost close to Georgia Tech’s, its New York access may justify the difference for the fields above. But if attending NYU would require substantially more loans, Georgia Tech’s combination of technical training, employer demand, and lower debt burden is likely to produce the stronger long-term return.
