Being nearby also makes it more realistic to hold a local internship during the academic year, attend interviews in person, and turn a part-time role into a full-time offer. Its alumni network is likely to feel more immediately accessible in Southern California because many graduates remain in the region.

ASU is well regarded by employers and has a much wider geographic footprint, especially for students who take advantage of its career fairs, internships, and program-specific recruiting. It can be a compelling option for fields where the program itself carries more weight than location, such as certain engineering, technology, business, design, or journalism paths. However, an ASU student targeting Southern California should deliberately pursue California-based internships, alumni outreach, and summer work rather than relying on campus recruiting alone.
