Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering has deep connections to major local technology employers, and Seattle offers unusually accessible internships, part-time opportunities, and alumni networks during the academic year.

Northwestern fits students who want strong technical preparation alongside a broader, highly interdisciplinary private-university experience. Computer science students can pursue the major through the McCormick School of Engineering or the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, making it easier to combine CS with areas such as economics, cognitive science, design, journalism, entrepreneurship, or the humanities. Its quarter system moves quickly and can create room for more courses, while the Evanston-Chicago location supports access to startups, finance-oriented technology roles, consulting, research, and a national employer base.
