UIUC’s scale matters for recruiting. Major accounting firms and large corporate employers have longstanding recruiting relationships with Gies, particularly across the Midwest, and students can access accounting-focused career programming, student organizations, and a broad alumni network. That can create more options in audit, tax, advisory, and corporate accounting, including for students who are still deciding among those paths.

It may carry an advantage for someone who is confident they want to begin in Boston or elsewhere in the Northeast and values a smaller private-school environment alongside accounting coursework.
