Is Emory or Fordham better for a career in finance?

For a finance career, Emory is the stronger overall choice because Goizueta Business School has broader national recruiting reach and a particularly established path into investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, and major financial-services firms.

Emory’s undergraduate business program is small and structured, so students receive concentrated career coaching, alumni access, and recruiting preparation through Goizueta. Its Atlanta location also provides meaningful access to corporate-finance, fintech, consulting, and regional banking opportunities, while its alumni network extends well beyond the Southeast into New York and other major finance markets.

Fordham’s biggest advantage is its New York City location. Gabelli students can pursue in-semester internships during the academic year, attend employer events more easily, and build relationships with firms across Manhattan. That proximity can be especially valuable for a student who is proactive about networking and wants to work while enrolled rather than rely mainly on summer internships.

The tradeoff is that Fordham’s access to New York employers does not automatically create stronger recruiting outcomes; students need to distinguish themselves in a larger applicant pool and take initiative with outreach.

Fordham can be the more practical pick when New York residency, cost, or the ability to intern during the semester substantially improves your situation. But absent a major cost difference, Emory offers the more reliable platform for a wide range of finance paths, including roles outside New York as well as Wall Street recruiting.
