Baylor’s Christian campus culture may also be an important positive for students seeking that values-based community.

The deciding practical factor is cost: a substantially lower net price at either school can outweigh ecosystem differences, since reducing debt gives a future founder more flexibility. But at similar cost, UMD provides more immediate exposure to a broad startup, research, and professional network.
