Is the University of Florida or Fordham better for starting a business career?

I’m a high school senior deciding between the University of Florida and Fordham, and I’m interested in building a career in business after college. I’m trying to understand which school offers stronger overall preparation and recruiting opportunities for business careers.

The University of Florida is the stronger all-around launchpad for a business career, particularly for broad recruiting, a large alumni network, and opportunities across the Southeast and beyond. UF’s Warrington College of Business has well-established undergraduate programs in finance, accounting, marketing, management, information systems, and related fields. Its size also supports business clubs, alumni connections, career programming, and employer recruiting across industries, not only finance.

Fordham’s clearest advantage is its New York City location. Gabelli students can pursue internships during the academic year with firms in Manhattan, which is especially useful for investment banking, asset management, commercial real estate, media, luxury, and other New York-centered fields. That access is meaningful, but students need to be proactive; the city creates competition as well as opportunity.

UF offers a more traditional large-university business experience, with campus recruiting and an alumni base in Florida, Atlanta, Texas, and major national markets. For someone still exploring business paths, that breadth can be valuable because it leaves room to move among fields such as consulting, corporate finance, analytics, sales, entrepreneurship, and accounting without relying on one geographic market.

Cost should carry real weight in this decision. If UF is substantially less expensive, especially for an in-state student, its combination of lower debt and strong business outcomes is difficult to overlook. Fordham can justify a higher cost when you are specifically committed to using New York throughout college and can actively build internships and professional relationships there.
