Its location and partnerships can be a major advantage for students interested in companies with a significant South Carolina and Southeast presence, including the automotive supply chain. Clemson students may find excellent placements, but the experience can feel less uniformly structured across majors and students than Purdue’s dedicated professional-practice model.

For a student whose main goal is the most established and broadly resourced engineering co-op pathway, Purdue has the edge. Clemson is a strong alternative when its campus environment, cost, or Southeast industry connections are more important, particularly for automotive or manufacturing-oriented goals.
