At UConn, exploring courses in other fields and changing majors within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is typically straightforward, although capacity-limited programs such as business, engineering, nursing, and some health-related paths may require a separate application or prerequisites. Georgetown also allows students to explore broadly, particularly within Georgetown College, but moving between Georgetown College, the McDonough School of Business, the School of Foreign Service, and the nursing and health school is not an automatic major change.

At Georgetown, the school to which you are admitted matters substantially. A student in Georgetown College can pursue a wide range of humanities, social sciences, and sciences, but transferring into the business school or School of Foreign Service can involve strong academic performance, available space, and a formal internal-transfer review.
