Is Cornell or Emory better for a career in hotel management?
I’m a high school senior interested in hospitality and hotel management, and I’m deciding whether to apply to Cornell or Emory. I want to understand which school offers the stronger academic preparation and career path specifically for hotel management.

For a student who is specifically committed to hotel management, Cornell is the more direct and developed option. Its Nolan School of Hotel Administration is a dedicated undergraduate hospitality program with coursework in hotel operations, real estate, food and beverage, finance, and service management.
Cornell fits someone who wants specialized training and a recognizable hospitality-school network. Its hands-on components, industry-focused student organizations, alumni base, and recruiting structure can support careers in hotel operations, revenue management, development, asset management, or luxury hospitality immediately after graduation.
Emory makes more sense for a student interested in business broadly who sees hospitality as one possible application. Emory does not offer an undergraduate hotel-management program comparable to Cornell’s. A student could study business through Goizueta, pursue internships in Atlanta’s hospitality, events, real estate, or tourism sectors, and build a hospitality-oriented path independently, but the curriculum and recruiting ecosystem are not designed primarily around hotels.
Choose Emory if you prefer a broader business education, want flexibility to pivot into consulting, finance, marketing, or entrepreneurship, or value Atlanta as a setting for internships. For a clearly stated goal of managing hotels or building a career in hospitality, Cornell provides more targeted preparation, industry access, and alumni support.
