Pepperdine fits students who value community and structure as much as the major itself. The Seaver College undergraduate campus has a liberal-arts orientation, required general education coursework, and an environment shaped by its Church of Christ heritage, though students come from varied backgrounds. Its Malibu setting is exceptional, but it is also expensive and less integrated with a walkable city; students often need to be intentional about transportation, internships, and off-campus life.

USF suits students who prefer more independence and choices. Its Tampa location can make it easier to access internships, health care, business, technology, research, and a larger range of student communities, while its public-university scale supports more majors, course options, and campus activity. A motivated student can build strong faculty relationships at USF, but they may need to seek them out more actively than at Pepperdine.

The key question is the actual net-price gap after grants, not the published price. Paying more for Pepperdine is reasonable when the added cost is manageable through family resources and modest loans, and its smaller, faith-informed Malibu experience is central to what you want from college.
