Is Pepperdine worth paying more than Michigan State for an undergraduate degree?

Paying much more for Pepperdine is most defensible only when its particular environment, not simply its name or Malibu location, is a strong personal and professional fit.

But location creates opportunities only if the student consistently pursues internships, networking, and transportation logistics; it does not automatically produce stronger outcomes.

Michigan State fits a student who wants a larger, more traditional university experience with broad course offerings, student organizations, alumni networks, and business recruiting resources. It is especially appealing for students who may want to explore established business fields such as accounting, finance, supply chain management, marketing, or management while retaining access to a large research university. Its scale can require more initiative to stand out, but motivated students can build strong résumés through internships, student organizations, competitions, and career services.

Avoid taking on major additional debt, or asking your family to compromise financial security, primarily for Pepperdine’s scenery or perceived networking advantage.
