It can reward students who are proactive about joining a club, finding a smaller community, and using Phoenix as part of their college experience. UConn Storrs is also a large public university, but its more concentrated campus often creates a stronger shared-campus rhythm around residence halls, athletics, dining, and weekend events. Its basketball culture is a particularly visible part of campus identity.

Academically, compare the specific major rather than treating either school as one experience. ASU has wide program choice and strong connections to the Phoenix-area economy, which can be especially useful for students who want internships during the school year. UConn combines broad flagship-university offerings with a more centralized undergraduate campus; some students also value its access to Connecticut and the broader Northeast for regional opportunities. Look closely at the department’s course sequence, required prerequisites, undergraduate research, advising, and the locations where students in your major intern.

Cost and logistics should carry substantial weight. Compare your actual net price, travel costs, and whether you would realistically use a car.
