George Washington fits a student who wants Washington, D.C. to function as an extension of the classroom. The Foggy Bottom campus is embedded in the city rather than separated from it, and many students build their schedules around internships, research, museums, federal agencies, advocacy organizations, international institutions, and professional events. That environment is especially compelling for students drawn to politics, international affairs, public policy, public health, media, or careers where early networking matters.

The day-to-day lifestyle difference is substantial. At FSU, it is easier to find a concentrated campus culture, traditional student organizations, game days, and a clearer separation between college life and the rest of the city. At GW, students need to be comfortable navigating an expensive, busy urban environment and taking more initiative to create community; in return, they can pursue experiences during the academic year that might require a summer move elsewhere.

Visit or compare each school through the same questions: Where can you picture an ordinary Tuesday, not just orientation week? Which curriculum has the courses and advising you need?
