Which has better campus weather, UIUC or UCLA?

For most students prioritizing comfortable day-to-day outdoor weather, UCLA has the clear advantage. Westwood has a mild, Mediterranean climate: winters are generally cool rather than severely cold, rain is concentrated in a limited part of the year, and snow and ice are essentially nonissues on campus. UCLA also has many dry, sunny days suitable for walking, studying outside, and using outdoor spaces year-round.

UIUC’s weather is much more variable. Urbana-Champaign has real Midwestern winters, including freezing temperatures, wind, snow, ice, and occasional disruptions from severe winter conditions. Summers can be hot and humid, with thunderstorms, while spring and fall can be pleasant but changeable.

UCLA is especially appealing for someone who dislikes layering up, driving rain, or having to plan around winter weather. One caveat is that Southern California can have hot spells and dry conditions, and UCLA’s mornings may sometimes be cool or overcast because of marine influence. Still, afternoons are often mild and sunny.

UIUC may suit a student who genuinely enjoys distinct seasons, crisp fall weather, and winter snow. But for consistently easy walking conditions and more reliable outdoor time, UCLA offers the more comfortable campus climate.
