Auburn can still prepare students well for med school, but students often need to be more proactive in piecing those experiences together.

Rochester stands out because pre-med students are studying in a place where biomedical research and academic medicine are central parts of campus life. That matters not just for prestige, but for practical access to labs, hospital volunteering, shadowing networks, and faculty who regularly work with students headed toward medicine. Its flexible curriculum can also help pre-meds explore broadly without feeling boxed in, which is useful if you want to balance science requirements with other interests.

Auburn’s strengths are a spirited campus, solid science teaching, and the resources of a major public university. It can absolutely get students to med school, especially students who are organized and willing to seek out research, clinical work, and advising early. The question is less whether Auburn is capable and more whether it gives you the same density of medical infrastructure that Rochester does. In most cases, it does not.
