For pre-med specifically, UT Dallas has built a strong reputation around STEM and undergraduate research. Its proximity to the Dallas medical and biotech corridor can help with labs, hospitals, clinics, and shadowing opportunities, and many students see that as a real advantage.

Penn State absolutely has the infrastructure for pre-med too, including major science departments, research options, and a huge alumni network. The challenge is that at a very large campus, opportunities are there, but they may not feel as immediately accessible at first. You may need to be more proactive in finding faculty mentors, research spots, and clinical experiences, especially early on.
