Which has better campus life, UMass Amherst or University of New Hampshire?

UMass Amherst has the livelier campus life for most students. It has a much larger student body, a busier residential campus, a bigger club and event scene, and easier access to the other Five College schools nearby, which adds more social options than you usually get at UNH.

One big difference is scale and energy. UMass feels more active day to day because there are more students around, more organizations, more campus programming, and more people staying engaged on weekends. Amherst is also a classic college town, and the Five College Consortium means students can tap into events, classes, and social life at nearby campuses like Amherst, Smith, Hampshire, and Mount Holyoke.

Another differentiator is the social structure. UMass has a broader mix of social scenes, from major campus events and athletics to cultural groups, student performances, dining-hall culture, and different friend circles across a very large campus. UNH in Durham can feel more close-knit and easier to navigate, which some students really like, but it usually comes across as quieter and less varied socially.
