Penn State vs. Ohio State for biology: which is better for pre-med and life science opportunities?

I’m trying to decide between Penn State and Ohio State and I want to study biology. I’m especially interested in which school might be better for pre-med preparation and finding research or lab opportunities as an undergrad.

Both seem like strong choices, but I’m not sure how they compare in biology overall and in helping students build a good resume for med school or other science careers.

Ohio State has the edge for biology with a pre-med focus, especially because its medical campus and major health system are tightly connected to the undergraduate experience. The last piece is advising and pre-health infrastructure. Both schools have enough students that you need to be proactive, but Ohio State’s volume of pre-health programming, student organizations, and medically adjacent opportunities is a real advantage if you want many ways to plug in early.
