Which is better for marketing, University of Delaware or Michigan State University?

I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both of these schools are on it. I’m interested in majoring in marketing and want a program that would give me a strong mix of business classes, internship opportunities, and career preparation.

Since I’m still comparing options, I’m trying to figure out which school is generally considered the stronger choice for marketing.

For marketing specifically, Michigan State usually has the stronger overall reputation and depth. Its Broad College of Business is very established, has a large alumni network, and benefits from being tied to a major research university with strong corporate recruiting. If you want a bigger business ecosystem, more specialized student organizations, and broad name recognition in business, MSU has an edge.

MSU tends to fit students who want a large, high-energy campus with lots of business activity happening at once. You would likely find more classmates focused on business careers, more employer presence, and more structured career resources tied to a nationally known business school. That can matter in marketing, where internships, networking, and access to recruiters often shape your early opportunities as much as coursework does.

University of Delaware makes more sense for a student who wants a somewhat more compact environment and values East Coast location advantages. Lerner College of Business has solid marketing preparation, and Delaware’s proximity to places like Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, and D.C. can help with internships and job searches. It is a respectable option, especially for someone who wants business training without the scale and intensity of a very large Big Ten campus.

If you are comparing them on marketing strength alone, I would lean Michigan State. It is typically viewed as having the more prominent business brand and the more robust business-school infrastructure. Delaware is still a good choice, but MSU is more often the one students pick when they want the stronger pure business-school feel and wider national reach in business recruiting.
