Is Lehigh or UNC better for finance careers?
I’m trying to decide between Lehigh and UNC and I want to focus on finance after college. Both schools seem strong in different ways, but I’m not sure which one gives students a better path into banking, investment management, or other finance jobs.
I’m mainly interested in which school has the stronger reputation and recruiting pipeline for finance careers.

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale and recruiting reach versus a smaller, more personal business-school environment. UNC has the broader national brand in finance, a very deep alumni network, and stronger access to major firms across investment banking, asset management, and corporate finance. Lehigh can still place well, especially in the Northeast, but it tends to be more relationship-driven and less naturally plugged into the same volume of top-tier finance recruiting.
For pure finance career outcomes, UNC usually has the stronger pipeline. Kenan-Flagler carries a widely recognized reputation, and UNC students benefit from a large alumni base in Charlotte, New York, and other key finance markets. That matters because finance recruiting often runs on a mix of brand recognition, alumni pull, and the number of firms that regularly return to campus or target students there.
Lehigh’s College of Business is respected, and the school has solid ties in areas like New York and Philadelphia. Some students do very well there, especially if they are proactive about networking, clubs, internships, and technical prep early on. But compared with UNC, Lehigh is less of an automatic target for many of the biggest finance employers, so getting the same outcomes can require more hustle and more self-directed outreach.
UNC also gives you more breadth if your interests shift within finance. Whether you end up leaning toward investment banking, equity research, asset management, real estate, or corporate finance, the platform is simply larger. Student organizations, alumni presence, and employer familiarity tend to be more extensive.
If your main question is which school gives you the stronger reputation and recruiting pipeline for finance, UNC has the edge. Lehigh is still a credible path, particularly for a student who wants a somewhat smaller setting and is comfortable building opportunities through networking, but UNC is the safer bet for finance careers.
