How hard is it to get into San Jose State compared with UC Davis?

The biggest practical difference is that UC Davis is the more selective campus overall, while San Jose State can range from fairly accessible to quite competitive depending on your major. UC Davis reviews applicants in a broad, holistic UC process and tends to draw a very large pool of strong in-state applicants. San Jose State, by contrast, uses a more formula-driven CSU admissions process, and some majors there become much harder simply because demand is so high.

In plain terms, for most applicants, getting into UC Davis is harder than getting into San Jose State. That is especially true if you are applying to a less impacted major at SJSU. But SJSU is not automatically easy.
