Is Santa Clara University worth it compared with UC Santa Cruz for undergraduates?

The biggest practical tradeoff is cost versus access: Santa Clara usually gives you a smaller private-school experience with tighter connections to Silicon Valley employers, while UC Santa Cruz gives you a lower-cost UC degree with a broader public-university structure. Santa Clara is in Silicon Valley, which can make networking and internship logistics easier, especially for business, finance, and some tech-adjacent paths. UC Santa Cruz still places students into strong outcomes, especially in STEM, but it tends to require more self-direction and does not offer the same private-school advising intensity.

For undergraduate life, the two schools feel very different.
