Is Santa Clara University or NYU Shanghai worth it for an undergraduate degree?

Santa Clara University is the safer bet for undergraduate value for most students. It has a long-established reputation in the U.S., especially in Silicon Valley, strong employer access in tech and business, and a clearer alumni network for internships and first jobs. NYU Shanghai can be excellent, but its value depends much more on whether you specifically want an international, China-centered academic and career path.

One big differentiator is employer recognition. Santa Clara is a known quantity with West Coast companies, particularly because of its location and ties to nearby firms. For undergrads trying to turn college directly into internships, recruiting pipelines, and practical experience during the school year, that proximity matters in a very concrete way.

Another difference is how predictable the degree’s payoff is.
