UNC Chapel Hill will feel more socially active for most students. It has a much larger student body, a true college-town environment on Franklin Street, big school traditions tied to ACC sports, and a wider range of weekend options on and off campus. If by “better social life” you mean more constant activity and more ways to plug in, UNC has the edge.

One major difference is scale. At UNC, there are simply more people, more student organizations, more events, and more social circles to enter, so it is easier to find both a large friend group and multiple scenes at once. Williams is intentionally smaller and more intimate, which can make friendships deepen quickly, but it also means the social ecosystem is narrower and can feel repetitive if you want a lot of variety.

Williams is in Williamstown, which is much quieter and more remote; students absolutely socialize a lot, but the scene is more campus-centered and depends more on the college creating the activity.
