How does the business school reputation of the University of Georgia compare with Notre Dame for undergraduate business?
I’m trying to choose between these two schools and keep hearing different opinions about which business program has the stronger reputation. I want to understand how employers and other colleges generally view UGA and Notre Dame for undergraduate business.
I’m not looking at rankings as much as overall reputation and how the degree is perceived.

Notre Dame tends to carry the stronger national brand for undergraduate business, while UGA has an excellent reputation that is especially strong in the Southeast and among employers familiar with Terry. In employer perception, Notre Dame often benefits from a very recognizable university name, a tight alumni network, and a business school that is widely seen as polished and well connected. UGA’s Terry College of Business is also very well regarded, but its reputation is a bit more regional unless you are targeting fields or companies that recruit heavily in the South.
For the student who wants a degree that travels easily across regions and industries, Notre Dame usually has the edge in pure name recognition. Mendoza is commonly viewed as a high-prestige undergraduate business program, and Notre Dame’s alumni network is one of its biggest reputation advantages. That matters not just for first jobs, but also for how the degree is read later by recruiters, graduate programs, and people outside your immediate region.
UGA makes a lot of sense for someone who wants a respected business education with strong recruiting ties, particularly in Atlanta and the broader Southeast. Terry is known well by employers in accounting, finance, MIS, marketing, and real estate, and it has a strong pipeline into major companies in that region. In many business circles, especially in Georgia, UGA is not seen as a fallback name at all. It is viewed as a serious, established program with a large and loyal alumni base.
If your question is strictly about overall reputation of the undergraduate business degree, Notre Dame is more likely to be perceived as the more prestigious name nationwide. If your goals are regionally anchored, cost-sensitive, or tied to the Southeast business market, UGA can be just as compelling in practice because employer familiarity there is very high. So the difference is less about whether UGA is respected, because it absolutely is, and more about how broad and portable you want the brand to be.
