Which is better for pre-med, Colgate or Cornell?

For a student who wants the widest range of science coursework and lab opportunities, Cornell gives you more ways to build a strong pre-med profile.

One major difference is the academic infrastructure. Cornell has multiple colleges and departments that feed into pre-med pathways, so students can find upper-level biology, chemistry, global health, nutrition, psychology, and human development courses that line up well with medical school interests. Colgate is a strong liberal arts college and can absolutely prepare students for medical school, but its course selection and lab scale are naturally more limited.

Research and clinical exposure are another separator. Cornell students benefit from a university environment with extensive faculty labs, hospital-adjacent connections, and a bigger volume of health-related projects during the academic year and summer. Colgate students can still do meaningful faculty-mentored research, and the smaller setting can make it easier to build close relationships with professors, but the range of medically adjacent opportunities is not as broad.
