Is Binghamton or the University of San Francisco better for finance?

I’m trying to decide between Binghamton and the University of San Francisco for studying finance. I know both are solid schools, but I want to choose the one that would be stronger for finance specifically.

I’m looking at the overall value of the program and how well it could help with internships and jobs after college.

For finance specifically, Binghamton is often the stronger value choice, while the University of San Francisco can make more sense for a student who wants to build experience in the Bay Area from the start. USF’s biggest advantage is location: being in San Francisco can help with access to internships during the school year, especially in corporate finance, fintech, and smaller investment-related firms.

Binghamton fits the student who wants a more traditional business-school environment, lower cost, and a degree that is respected by employers without taking on as much financial risk. For someone targeting finance roles where GPA, internships, and networking matter more than prestige alone, that combination can be very practical. If you are likely to be proactive about joining finance clubs, seeking internships in New York, and using alumni connections, Binghamton can set you up well.

USF fits the student who learns best by being in a major city and wants internships woven into the college experience. San Francisco gives you proximity to employers, and that can matter if you are motivated enough to take advantage of it early. The tradeoff is that USF is typically harder to justify on value if it comes with a much higher price tag, especially because finance outcomes depend heavily on what you do in college, not just the name of the school.

For pure value and a straightforward finance education, I’d lean Binghamton. I’d look harder at USF only if the Bay Area location is central to your plans, the cost is manageable, and you know you will actively use the city for internships and networking.
