Is Binghamton or Boston University better for finance?

Boston University is the stronger option for finance. Its location in Boston gives you far easier access to internships during the school year, more frequent employer events tied to financial services, and a broader alumni network in major East Coast markets, especially Boston and New York.

One big differentiator is recruiting access. BU students can realistically intern part-time during the semester at banks, asset management firms, consulting firms, and corporate finance offices because they are already in a major business city. That matters a lot in finance, where early experience and repeated internships often drive full-time outcomes.

Another is the business-school structure. BU’s Questrom School of Business is a very visible, well-established undergraduate business program, which makes the finance path more direct. You are entering a school where finance, accounting, and business recruiting are central parts of the undergraduate experience, rather than something you build more independently.

Binghamton can still work well, especially if cost is much lower and you are proactive. It has a respected reputation, a strong alumni base in New York, and students do place into finance-related roles. But the path is typically less plugged into on-campus finance recruiting than at BU, and the campus location does not offer the same day-to-day internship access.

BU has the edge for recruiting, network density, and finance-focused opportunity while you are still an undergrad. Binghamton is the better value play for many students, but for pure finance career-building, BU gives you more built-in advantages.
